How To Get Rid Of A Hickey OvernightYou ended up in bed with your girlfriend or boyfriend, and needless to say, things got out of hand. Nevertheless you enjoyed your night, but you probably woke up with a bruise on your skin. This ‘bruise’ or love bite is a hickey which is usually cause by biting, kissing or sucking of soft skin, typically on the neck. Though they are not dangerous or cause any damage to a person’s health, they can be quite embarrassing in family, social or professional environments. So, here are a few methods on how to get rid of a hickey overnight.

Massage

Hickey causes the blood to clot and give a reddish tinge. Massaging this spot scatters the clotted blood and reduces it colour. It is particularly effective if massaged with any essential oil. Massage the hickey by placing your fingers on the affected area and rub them in slow circular motion in clockwise direction. After a while, change the direction, make sure that your fingers are placed firmly. You might notice a few outlines, but that is rare. It mainly depends on the severity of the hickey.

Aloe Vera

If you noticed your hickey in the morning and you don’t have enough time to try out different time consuming methods, just dab a piece of Aloe Vera paste on it. Aloe Vera is a moisturizer that helps in curing bruises, efficiently and fast because it contains vitamin K, which speeds up the process.

Ice Pack

The use of an ice pack reduces bleeding and constricts the broken blood capillaries. This can be done, by taking several ice cubes in a towel and pressing it directly to the affected area. Keep the ice pressed on the hickey for 10 minutes. This helps in alleviating swelling as well as pain if any. If you are prone to cold then this might not be the best of idea. As an alternative you can use a spoon. Keep the spoon in the fridge and after it has cooled wrap it in a cloth and apply to the affected area. The more times you do it, the faster the hickey will disappear.

Toothbrush

A toothbrush can be used for getting rid of a hickey. Using a new toothbrush is best. Just brush the affected area with a crisp bristled toothbrush. This helps in stimulating blood circulation which in turn loosens the clotted blood. Do not press the brush too hard or this may cause the hickey to worsen. For better measure apply an ice pack later.

Scraping

You just scrap the hickey with a coin or something firm. Stretch the hickey on both the ends and scrap the hickey. Please make sure that you don’t scrap too hard or you may damage the skin. You can cold compress later for alleviating the redness.

Conclusion

Just be careful next time you are out with your girlfriend or boyfriend, especially if you have some important meeting the next day. Nevertheless, if you get carried away, then you can follow the above prescribed methods. They definitely work.
